Changes in COVID-19 Coverage and Deadline for CAA RxDC Reporting: An Important Update From Kaiser

5/15/2023
California

As of May 11, 2023, the federal COVID-19 public health emergency will cease, but COVID-19 vaccines, testing, and treatments will still be provided free of charge in California under fully insured health plans. More details about changes in coverage will be released when available.

In March, Kaiser Permanente reached out to current customers and brokers for group-specific information to comply with pharmacy reporting requirements under the Consolidated Appropriations Act (CAA), 2021. The April 3, 2023 deadline was set for this data collection to identify and resolve any issues before the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services’ (CMS) June 1, 2023 submission deadline. It was discovered that the initial outreach had inadvertently overlooked groups that had ended their coverage with Kaiser Permanente before the outreach. These groups will be contacted directly via email and asked to submit the necessary information by 5:00 PM (PST), May 18, 2023.
