Western Health Advantage Provider Update: Marin County

11/21/2024
Marin Health Medical Center gave notice that effective January 1, 2025, they will no longer be a hospital partner to Meritage Medical Network (MMN) for Western Health Advantage (WHA) members, leaving Meritage doctors without a hospital to admit their patients to in Marin and Sonoma counties. This also impacts Meritage access to Sonoma Valley Hospital in Sonoma County.

Therefore, WHA is moving their network in those areas to Hill Physicians Medical Group (HPMG) effective 1/1/25. Many of the existing providers, along with additional providers, will be available to members within HPMG. For the PCPs that are continuing under Hill, members will only be changing their medical group. WHA sent a 60-day notification to these members and will be sending new ID cards closer to the end of the year.

For other members, for whom their current provider is not in the Hill Physicians network, those members will be transitioned to a new doctor/PCP in Hill Physicians’ network. This will be done through auto-assignment by WHA and the member may elect to switch to another Hill Physician provider should they wish. WHA sent a 60-day notification to these members with their new PCP information and will be sending new ID cards in December. Please note some of these providers are still in negotiations with Hill. Should they contract, WHA is prepared to send these members a notice to let them know they may continue with their current doctor.

All Meritage members will continue to receive care from their current Meritage-affiliated doctor through the end of 2024.

WHA has updated their online provider search. You will find a search for JAN 2025 will return providers associated with Hill Physicians. A search for DEC 2024 will return providers associated with Meritage Medical Network. In either case, there are no changes to the affiliated hospitals of Marinhealth Medical Center or Sonoma Valley Hospital as they both remain in our network.
