Anthem is making temporary changes to health plan benefits to provide relief and ensure healthcare access for members impacted by severe weather events in California.

The relaxed guidelines are in effect December 23, 2025, through January 21, 2026, for members as follows and have Anthem group health plans through their employers or Anthem individual and family plans:

  • Del Norte County (July 2025 tsunami)
  • Imperial County (August monsoon storms and September 2025 storms)
  • San Luis Obispo and Santa Barbara counties (August 2025 Gifford Fire)
  • Sierra County (August 2025 storms and mudslides)
  • San Bernardino County (January 2025 windstorms and September 2025 storm)

The changes are also for emergency responders who have been assigned to the area by their state or local agency but do not live in the impacted area.

Anthem wants to make sure your clients and their members have access to the healthcare they need. Anthem can help with finding available doctors, refilling prescription drugs, and other health plan questions. For assistance during the emergency, members can call the Member Services number on their member ID card.
